Hi, I’ve just come to Cyprus from the UK where I was successfully using a Speedtouch 585 wirelessly with my Tiscali account (fast speed & low cost!!) I was delighted to get the same modem from Cyta and looked forward to using it wirelessly. The self install here needed a bit of technical support from Cyta with them doing “mysterious” things at HQ to get the connection going. I’ve read the blog from top to bottom but don’t understand much of it!! I’ve enabled the wireless element of the Speedtouch and my laptop can ’see’ my wireless network signal. (My main computer uses the Ethernet cable) The laptop tries to connect but doesn’t succeed. However, what was weird was that following an unsuccessful connection attempt my AVG virus checker started to download the updates! The laptop did connect once for a few minutes and then disconnected. I find all this very strange. The modem says it is transmitting, the laptop says it can see a strong connection but I can’t connect. Is Cyta trying to make things difficult? Do they want you to pay more to use the wireless? The $64,000 question is still how can one use the modem to its full potential. If the answer is in the blog I apologise but I didn’t see anything in a form that I could understand!! I hope there is help just over the horizon. Thanks……. Malcolm Brooke
